  • Hello, beautiful being, and welcome to this episode of Come to Your Senses. I am delighted to be here with you today.

Right now, there's a soft rain falling outside that, no matter where I am in my house, I cannot seem to escape the pitter-patter of. So, if you hear a crackling sound in the background, just know that it has a very romantic, cozy origin.

This is a time of year where, inside our bodies, there is a natural drawing inward. You might notice yourself wanting to be indoors more often, staying cozy and cuddled up, lighting a candle, or snuggling into a reading nook.

Part of this is an instinctive, ancestral knowing that, just like the earth prepares for her great slumber after the harvest season, our bodies—being of the earth—follow that same inner rhythm.

Of course, modern advances, like those brought by the Industrial Revolution, have allowed us to dramatically depart from those natural rhythms. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I’m grateful, for example, that I can visit Walgreens at midnight on a Tuesday if I feel myself coming down with something.

Still, while there are gains from such advances, there are also losses. Or perhaps not losses exactly, but the soft whispers of our natural rhythms often become drowned out by the noise of hustle and bustle.

To support you during this season, I’ve created a special meditation designed to help you stay grounded during Black Friday—or really any time when your circuits feel blown, especially around spending money.

You can find this Black Friday meditation on Insight Timer, a wonderful meditation app, and I’ll include a link below this episode.

Now, I love saving up all year for things like Cosabella bralettes or Kate’s Magic anointing oils. There are even gifts I buy in bulk for my clients—special treasures I include in their welcome packages. I also love a good 20–40% off sale.

But I’ve also learned the hard way about the dangers of impulse spending. After buying my first home in 2020, I dove headfirst into Black Friday sales on Wayfair to furnish my new space. Let’s just say that a lot of those purchases ended up on Facebook Marketplace a year later!

Sales like Black Friday prey on our fear of missing out. That’s why I created this meditation—to help you listen to your intuition and avoid being swept away by impulse. You can download it anytime, whether it’s November or July.

Another gem of support I want to share as we sail into the holiday season is a song that has deeply moved me. There’s no Spotify link for it, so as a gift and a vulnerable share, I’m going to sing it for you.

Before I do, I also want to let you know about something exciting coming in December and January. For the first time ever, I’m offering a Word of the Year Mastermind as a special bonus for annual members of The Sanctuary, our membership community.

I’ll share more juicy details next week, but essentially, this mastermind is about devotion. It’s not about manifesting something out of thin air, but about answering the call of a word, desire, or feeling—and letting your life be transformed through that relationship.

Now, allow me to clear my throat because I’m about to sing to you, dear earth. This song is precious to me. I first heard it in a church devoted to the divine feminine, and it has completely changed my life.

In this week of Thanksgiving—where we reflect on both the abundance of life and the complicated history of this holiday—I wanted to share it with you as an offering of gratitude and connection to the earth. The words, written by Jan Aldrich Clanton, are set to the melody of the hymn For the Beauty of the Earth.

    [Song Performance]

May we nurture you each day,
    Christ Sophia guides our way.
    Lovely earth, your glory fills,
    Laughing brooks and flowering trees,
    Soaring birds o'er golden hills,
Dancing deer so wild and free.

May we nurture you each day,
    Christ Sophia guides our way.

All your life, deep value holds,
    Smallest ants touch wisdom's way.
Working hard, they share all loads,
    Equal partners every day.
May we join them as we say,
    Christ Sophia guides our way.

Hear, O earth, our solemn vow
    To conserve your sacred life.
    Caring for your future now,
    So your wonders will survive.
May we nurture you each day,
    Christ Sophia guides our way.

Special thanks to Jan Aldrich Clanton for those beautiful words and to Katie Ketchum, choir director at HerChurch, who shared this song with me. And of course, my deepest thanks to you for connecting here with me on Come to Your Senses.

If you’re feeling the stirring to join our Word of the Year Mastermind, included with an annual membership to The Sanctuary, head to schoolofsensualliving.com/sanctuary.

Wishing you a sacred, slow, and sumptuous start to the holiday season. Have a wonderful week. Ciao!
